GK Passing Warm-Up (15 mins)

Passing and Receiving W/U with Goalkeepers

Three teams - bleu, red and goalkeepers. One team passes to goalkeepers on ground goalkeepers receive using proper technique and then bowl a pass to other team. e.g. receive from red pass to blue. Switch roles.

If players have skill set to deliver medium and high balls from ground with feet repeat with again gks using proper technique. If players do not have skills to play ball from ground have them volley from hands or throw the balls to ensure good serves on medium and high balls - again gks use proper technique to receive and then pass to other team. Switch roles after 2 minutes.

GK Technical Square (20 mins)

GK Technical Square

Goalkeepers work on receiving balls at various heights with correct technique.

Player A in line moves towards central cone turns and assumes correct ready position.

Player B serves ball at desired height (low, medium, high) Player A collects and goes bacto the end of the line. Player B now moves towards central cone turns, ready and receive serve from C. etc.

All four groups working at the same time. Coach position yourself centrally to monitor technique.

Collapse Save Work

Sitting - (ball to one side): from sitting position goalkeeper rolls on side - hips to shoulder elbows never contacting the ground. One hand behind ball - one hand to top of ball. Repeat 5 X then switch.

Kneeling Start - same as above. Then Squat Start and finally Standing Start. With these three starting positions goalkeepers should step forward and get lower so again coantact is knee, hip, shoulder.

Next step working in pairs have one keeper serve while others perform drill.

Two Goals (15 mins)

Two Goals

Set up cones or poles in a triangle arrangement.

One goal designated as "1" or as "2". Server calss outs 1 or 2 goalkeeper moves around central pole to goal as called and makes serve on ball served low. Goalkeeper moves to end of line A - Server moves to end of line B.

Multiple Central Goals (20 mins)

Multiple Central Goals

Two teams play against keepers in four (or three) goals in centre of field. Normal rules apply except field players cannot run through area created by the four goals and to count shots must be waist high or lower.

Teams switch roles after five minutes. Team with most goals PLUS most saves at end wins. e.g in round one blue scores 4, Red 3 and yellow makes 6 saves score is 4-3-6 and then switch and add next results.
