Academy Passing Circle

10-15 Diameter Circle

2 players/ cone for 4 cones

No players on other half

Players start with their hands and toss the ball around from player to player.

After they pass the ball they run straight across to another cone to receive the ball again.

Once they receive the ball again they pass it again around the circle and go back to where they started.

Progression:

- Go to Feet

- Go opposite Direction

- Put defenders in Middle and play keep away.

Modification:

- Can have players start in a circle to work on just the technique and then add the movement into it.

Coaching Points

- Fast Movement after pass

- Open the body to field

- Receive Across your Body

- Receive Left pass Right

- Receive Right pass Left

- Check shoulder

- Communication

7v3 - Midfield Play

4 - 10/15x10/15 areas

Start with a 7v0 activity to work on movement patterns.

Then progress into a 7v3 positional possession game.

No two red players can occupy the same square at the same time.

Focus on the movements and positioning of the players.

Coaching Points:

- Passing and Receiving Across Body

- Awareness (Check for Space)

- Positioning amongst the three mids

- Proper Rotation of the three mids

- Communication

Guided Discovery:

- If this CM moves here, where should you move to?

- If the ball is played here, where should you move to?

- What could be a problem if we fail to rotate?

- Can you think of a way to rotate and position yourself so you can maintain possession?

Top of Box to half field. Blue team is restricted within red lines.

Players are set up in their positions in a 4-3-3 formation.

This is a positional possession activity that focuses on the midfielders. Focus on the positioning and rotation of the CMs.
