Split group into 2 teams. Place 10 balls in the centre zone. Attacking team has 10 attempts to score against the defending team. Attackers start inside the middle area, defenders on the outside of the playing field. They can choose to all go at the same time or individually, etc. If the defender wins the ball, they can dribble into the safety zones for a bonus point. Switch teams roles once sequence is complete.
Variations/Progrssions:
-you can also look for a team mate to create a 2vs1
Coaching Points:
-Close control, lots of touches, use of moves, changes of speed/directions
-Awarness of space/players/goals around them
-Quick decision-making
-Accurate finishing

Cannonball Run (15 mins)
Organization:
20 x 20 yard area set up as shown
8 players (Minimum)
Lots of soccer balls
Instructions:
Pirates (players) are all battling to be the “Captain of the Ship." To do this they have to get from one end of the pirate ship to the other without getting hit by a cannon ball (soccer ball). The cannon balls are being fired by the coach. Coach yells “CANNON BALLERS, ARE YOU READY?” to which the players respond “FIRE IN THE HOLE!” (This only happens when the first player is out). Coach yells “PIRATES ARE YOU READY?" Pirates shout ‘RRRRRRRRRR!’. Coach then yells “CANNON BALL RUN! ” and all the pirates run to the other end of the ship. As the Pirates try not to get hit by the Cannons they must make sure they can collect the treasure that is hidden on the other side of the ship too - as they'll need that for their future voyages and adventures. Any Pirate that gets hit with a cannon ball then becomes a cannon ball-er and helps fire cannon balls. The last pirate left is the Captain.
Coaching Points:
- Keep your eye on the cannon balls and use different movements to not get hit
- Move quickly across the pirate ship
- Keep your eye on the cannon ball when you strike it
- Try to time the firing of the cannon ball so that the pirates run into it
Progressions:
Make the pirate ship wider
