SSG dribble to score

Organisation:

40 x 30 metre pitch

16 players (8 per team)

8 pairs of cone discs (various matching colours e.g red, white, yellow). The pitch simulation above only shows red cones, but space the mixed coloured cones around the pitch.

1 ball

Game rules:

Both teams play normal football. The players on the team in possession attempt to dribble the ball through any of the 8 coned gates scattered across the pitch. The opposing team must prevent scoring, win the ball and try to score themselves by dribbling through a coned gate.

1 point is scored every time a player dribbles through the coned gate in control of the ball.

If the ball goes out of play, a free pass is made from the sideline.

Main objectives:

- Encourage technical execution of ball control, dribbling, feints

Secondary objectives:

- Continuous movement off the ball by the attacking team to help the player in possession

- Support play, cover and repositioning in defence

Progressions:

- 2 goals if the teams dribble through the coloured cones as designated by the coach (red / white / yellow)

- Can a specific skill (step over; ronaldo chop; etc) skill be done to beat a defender then score
