Activity #1 - grid work
Set Up:
1.) Grid work - channels should be 25x10 yards
2.) Groups of three or four with a ball
3.) Each group will have their own channel
4.) Sequence - The player passes to the player across from them, and then they follow their pass. Then, repeat.
5.) Use the inside and outside of each foot to receive and pass - push pass.
6.) After the players understand short passes, have them back up and use the full length of the grid to do the same passing patterns.
***Suggested surfaces and passing patterns - 1) 3 touch passing using any part of their foot. 2) 2 touch passing - use the same foot to pass and receive. 3) 2 touch passing using both feet (one foot receives, the other foot passes). 4) 1 touch passing.
Activity #2
Set Up
1) Groups of four and a ball
2) 10x10 grid - if that is too hard, please make the grid 12x12.
3) 3v1 (it can be 4v1 depending on your team's ability)
Rules:
3v1 Rondo (keepaway). The three attackers try and posses the ball for a certain amount of time or passes. If the defender wins the ball or the ball is played out-of-bounds, the last attacking player to touch the ball or turn the ball over becomes the defender. You may add a touch restriction example: 1 touch, 2 touch or three touch limit.
Activity #3 - Four Goal Game
Set Up
1) Two even teams
2) 30x40 grid with four small goals (goals can be cones)
3) Teams have two goals to score in and two goals to defend
4) Restarts from the coach
Rules:
5v5 to 2 goals. The game's objective is for the attacking team to score in one of two goals. Play to a predetermined number total. You may add restrictions when warranted.
