Forward Movement at the Front Post (10 mins)

The Goalkeeper starts on a cone in the middle of the goal. For younger goalkeepers, or goalkeepers that need help with correct positioning a disc marker can be placed along the line between the goalkeeper and the coach/server.

Throughout this practice the goalkeeper should be encouraged to catch the ball with both hands if possible, and get into a good practice of catching and holding the ball.

In this practice, the goalkeeper moves of the line and takes up a good position. In this position, they should be able to cover the far post but also easily be able to defend the near post .

The goalkeeper should also be encouraged that once they are in their correct position and are set, they should not move or dive until the ball has been thrown. Try to make the practice as real as posible, if the goalkeeper guesses that a striker is going to shoot and doesn't they leave a wide area of the goal exposed.
