Team Ball Tag (15 mins)

Set Up: 

  • Divide the players into two even groups with 1 ball each.
  • One group good attacking (red) and one group (yellow) defending their ball.
  • Field size 30 (L) x 30 (W).

Action: 

  • While dribbling around the area, the reds chase the yellows.
  • The reds try to pass their ball and hit the yellows ball (passing it. e.g., like playing pool).
  • Reds to count how many yellow balls they hit.
  • Players to switch roles after a certain time.
Variation/Progressions
  • The time of sets or size of the area can be adjusted to suit the needs and abilities of the players.
  • With each turn try and beat your previous score.

Player Tips: 

  • As Above.

Coaching Points:

  • Correct running/dribbling with the ball and passing technique.
  • Ensure you show players how to protect the ball.
  • Flat passes.
  • Plan as a team on retrieving balls or working together with one ball.

Session Timing:

  • Complete 4 sets of 3 minutes with a 1 minute rest in between sets.
