Football/Soccer Session (Academy Sessions): Racecars - U8

Racecars (15 mins)

Set Up: 

• Divide the players into one group of 6 (racecars) and one group of 2 cops (different colour bib)with 1 ball each.
• Field size 30 (L) x 20 (W).

Action: 

• While dribbling around the area, the cops chase the racecars.
• The cops try to knock the racecars ball out of the area by passing it. e.g., like playing pool.
• If racecars ball knocked out of the area they are to complete a ball feeling exercise. e.g., 10 sole taps.
• Once completed racecars can rejoin group.
• Players to switch roles after a certain time.

• The time of sets or size of the area can be adjusted to suit the needs and abilities of the players.
• With each turn try and beat your previous score.

Player Tips: 

• As Above.

Coaching Points:

• Correct running/dribbling with the ball and passing technique.
• Ensure you show players how to protect the ball.
• Shoot from close range.
• Heads Up.
• Protect the ball.

Session Timing:

• Complete 4 sets of 1.5 minutes with a 1 minute rest in between sets.
