Hockey Session (Under 6s): Capture the Flag Redeux

Screen 1 (5 mins)

Goal:

It's simple — warm-up and have fun!

Skill emphasis:

Footwork, awareness

Drill:

1. All players start inside the circle with a pinnie or a "flag" tucked into the back of their waistband.

2. On the coach's whistle, players attempt to pull their teammates flags.

3. If their flag is removed, players have to leave the circle, but can stand on the outside of the circle and still try to remove flags of players that are still in the circle.

4. The game ends when there is one player left standing.

Recommended:

Make the circle bigger or smaller depending on your numbers.

If the game is going long, direct the players on the outside of the circle to move inward to make the circle smaller.
